Northern North-Western Region (NNW)

The Northern, north-western region covers Bangladesh's upper north western region, spanning 9,917 sq. km. The vulnerable population of the area (6.32 million) faces damage due to flood and flash floods (52%), drought (1.7%), lightning (9.3%), and extreme heat and cold waves. Average damages and losses in the area due to disaster were BDT 33.3 billion during 2016-2021, mainly driven by climatic stresses (BBS, 2022).
